The Luffa plant is a genus of tropical and subtropical vines in the cucumber family. The Luffa grows as a fruit and looks much like zucchini's squash or melons while growing on the vines. At a smaller stage the Luffa is edible, and when left to grown out larger the Luffa naturally creates a sponge texture. These particular Luffas are grown and cleaned on a small farm in China.
Loofa sponges are a great alternative to plastic sponges as they are coming direct from nature and will completely compost back into the Earth.
